On November 28, 2016, the Great Smoky Mountains and surrounding area caught fire. Thousands of people were evacuated from both Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge.  Our whole county watched news coverage of buildings and homes being burnt.  It was an unbelievable tragedy to watch all of this destruction unfold in our hometown. Almost immediately, Sevier County Bank leaders moved into action, and put together ways that we could help our community, after all, we are the “Hometown Bank” of Sevier County since 1909. Our team offered several options to help those that were affected.  One offer that meant a lot to me was allowing employees to volunteer at the distribution centers, during work hours. On top of allowing us to go help,  the bank also gave us our regular pay during these work hours we were volunteering. How awesome! I am thankful to see that our Board of Directors and Executives understand how important this town is to all of us and how much we love to help!
